How to Make Espresso Martini

The Espresso Martini is a popular cocktail that combines the rich flavors of espresso coffee with the smoothness of vodka and a touch of sweetness. It’s a sophisticated and energizing drink that is enjoyed by coffee and cocktail enthusiasts alike.

Bartender Dick Bradsell in London created the espresso martini in the early 1980s, originating from the vodka espresso.

Ingredients:

  • Vodka 45 ml(1 ½ ounces)
  • Coffee liqueur (such as Quaffine, Kahlua or Tia Maria) – 30 ml(1 ounce )
  • Freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee – 30 ml(1 ounce )
  • Simple syrup or sugar syrup (adjust to taste) –
  • Ice cubes
  • Coffee beans or espresso beans for garnish (optional)

Indie Brews & Spirits in Goa developed Quaffine, India’s first homegrown liqueur. The coffee Liqueur made with 100% Arabica beans. No added flavours or boosters. It has prunes, dates, coffee, raisins, and roasted nuts with a pinch of butterscotch, and has 25% alcohol by volume. You can consume it as a shot, on the rocks, or use it to create delicious cold brew martinis or espresso martinis, making it a versatile coffee liqueur. You have to taste it, to know it.

Instructions for making an Espresso Martini:

  1. Brew a shot of espresso or make a cup of strong coffee and allow it to cool slightly.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
  3. Add the vodka, coffee liqueur, freshly brewed espresso or strong coffee, and simple syrup to the shaker.
  4. Close the cocktail shaker tightly and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to chill the ingredients and mix them thoroughly.
  5. Strain the cocktail into a chilled martini glass.
  6. Optionally, you can garnish the martini with a few coffee beans or espresso beans on top.
  7. Serve the Espresso Martini immediately and enjoy!

The result is a smooth and velvety cocktail with a strong coffee flavor, a hint of sweetness, and a kick from the vodka. The espresso or strong coffee provides the base flavor, while the vodka and coffee liqueur add depth and richness.

Remember to adjust the sweetness level to your taste preference by adding more or less simple syrup. You can also experiment with different variations by using flavored vodka or coffee liqueur to add unique twists to the cocktail.

Enjoy the Espresso Martini as a luxurious after-dinner drink, a festive cocktail at social gatherings, or whenever you crave a delightful coffee-infused beverage. Cheers!
